About Pane in the Glass.

Student-founded in 2024. Now a real local Chicago crew with the right tool for every pane.

.01 · The Founders

Two college kids. A real business.

Jake and Reid, summer 2024, holding their first water-fed pole and squeegee

Pane in the Glass started in the summer of 2024. Just Jake Goldstein at Cornell and Reid Pearsall at Colgate, two ladders, and a list of neighbors who needed their windows cleaned. We figured we’d do it for a summer. It turned into something else.

A year later we have a crew, a real route across Chicago, and a reputation for doing this right. The right tool for every pane. A hand-detail on every sill. We’re still the same two people who took the first job, and we still take every one personally.

Being student-founded isn’t a gimmick. It’s just where we started. We’re not trying to look bigger than we are, and we’re not trying to look smaller. We’re a local Chicago crew that cares about the work.

.02 · Method

The right tool for every pane.

Every exterior pane gets the water-fed pole. A carbon-fiber pole feeds purified, deionized water through a soft brush, the brush scrubs the glass, and the rinse dries spot-free. Safer than a ladder and reaches corners ladders can’t. Same pole handles solar panels too.

Every sill, frame, and screen gets the hands. Squeegee and microfiber, by hand, where touch matters: catching a smear before it sets, getting a streak-free line right at the edge. Right tool, right job.

.03 · The Team

Local crew. Trained on the ladder.

The Pane in the Glass crew is local to Chicago and trained on both tools. Poles up top, squeegees down low, hand-detail on every edge. Jake and Reid are still on the route, and every new hire works alongside them before they work alone.

You get the same faces each visit, and a number that reaches a real person. We keep the crew small on purpose so the standard never slips.

.04 · Giving Back

For moms and babies.

Every season, we give 3 to 5% of our revenue to March of Dimes, a nonprofit working on the health of moms and babies.

Cleaner windows in Chicago, healthier starts everywhere else. That math feels right to us.

When you book a job with our crew, a slice of it goes there. No extra fee, no opt-in. Built into how we run.
